Complex Platform Navigation for Perception Technologies

The 3D_SAM™ technology is specifically designed for current and future platform control and guidance projects. The technology draws upon the company’s extensive history for delivering precision satellite navigation solutions for defence, industrial automation and aerospace applications. The technology targets machine installations by facilitating “3D spatial awareness”, (volume occupation and orientations), for both “self” and that of other adjacent moving machines and/or surrounding static objects. Continuous integrity assessments associated with all measurements delivering real insight into operational status. All GNSS satellite measurements are independently checked for integrity to aviation industry accepted standards and then are further validated against known mechanical constraints associated with the actual size and shape of each machine. These measurements are then further validated against the permanent rail network the machines are constrained to.

  • Absolute 3D Positioning

Precise 3D positional information on any location of either machine or yard (eg. boom extremities etc..), including automatically computed critical separation vectors between adjacent machines applied to unique internal 3D survey grade models. (Far superior to the existing rotation joint measurements provided by Slew and Luff encoders). Any issues associated with working machine track subsidence due footing stability, (water induced), is also captured in the absolute 3D positioning environment.

  • Continuous Integrity

Continuous integrity assessments associated with all measurements delivering real insight into operational status. These measurements are then further validated against the permanent rail network the machines are constrained to.

  • Remote Synthetic Vision

Ability to view yard/ machine 3D positions & orientations synthetically, remotely, day or night, without the need for expensive CCDTV cameras. Unlike traditional video camera technology, the specifically tailored control room viewing software component to 3D-SAM, known as 3D-CCDTV delivers “virtual camera” technology configurable to provide operator unique situational awareness. These cameras can be configured to automatically follow machines, change views based on various alert /emergency conditions, display switching 3D perspectives, etc. delivering maximum situational awareness to the control room supervisors 24/7 under any outdoor conditions.

  • Real Time Stockpile Scanning

For decades stockpile bulk material handling machinery has used weighted pendulum sensors, snag wires, ultrasonic transponders and laser scanners to detect/ sense the presence of mounded material to prevent potential collision. However, with new advances in 3D/ 2D spatial scanning technologies with regards to performance (distance and field of view), robustness (solid state with no moving parts) and affordability scanning technology options continue to improve yearly. Most notably, advances in 76GHz automotive 2D radars and solid state laser scanners offer the best prospects for future real time 3D spatial mapping of the stockpiles environs, while solving the past performance, robustness and affordability problems.

The company will continue evolve further current and future scanners in RTSS technologies fully integrated with our 3D-SAM suite of products, blending stockpile spatial data with precise machine 3D navigation in real time.
