For those aware of GRIFFIN projects’ original aviation roots, many have questioned, how does this contribute to Space Domain Awareness (SDA)?

Future conflicts are increasingly likely to involve space as a critical domain, with battles fought over resources, satellite control, and cyber warfare, making them key strategic objectives. Adversaries will employ Camouflage Concealment Deception or manoeuvre (CCDM) activities – tightly integrating their LEO-based GPS EW assets with their other ground, airborne and naval resources. On demand, their usually benign spacecraft, will transform into menacing short burst RFI cyber attack, jamming & spoofing GPS Signals, all, while hiding amongst dozens of visible commercially benign spacecrafts.

These future complex EW environments, Gray Zones, will be engineered to both frustrate allied critical terrestrial PNT signal access, and then confuse defensive interdiction responses. Gray Zones create Unclear Attribution, (who/what causation), and then follows up with Strategic Ambiguity, causing uncertain or complicated allied responses.
